Site Management Issues (7.1)

I have finally gotten NS 7.1 installed (after 3 days of turmoil!) but I seem to have one issue. Under Site Management when I go to Subnets, there are none listed and I can't seem to add one. I can go through the motions of adding one but it never shows up. There are also no errors in any of the logs indicating that there is an issue. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? If I have to do a repair I would prefer to not have to repair an entire solution (due to the nightmare during the installation) so if I can repair a specific package that would be better.

What sort of nightmares occurred?  They could shed some light on the issue you're having.

I see lots of issues with Silverlight and the activity center. I would suggest doing an aexconfigure /configure command line for the core NS platform. Just have to dig that up.

Well the "nightmares" were all over the place. I had to start over several times but finally got the system installed correctly...except for this one issue. The original issues included, but were not limited to, bad permissions ad missing ACLs on the driversDB folder and all drivers folders. Missing and bad permissions in the registry where the MSIs register themselves and silverlight not being recognized so the view for managing computers wasn't right. I did try repairs with no luck and even tried repairing the activity center with no luck as well. I finally uninstalled everything, deleted the DB and started over and now things are looking better.

Of course I still don't see any subnets. I have tried to repair the Activity Center and it didn't seem to do any good. I can click on the subnets title and the page on the right appears but is empty. I can manually create a subnet, or at least go through the motions, but when I go back to the page there is nothing there but there are no errors in the logs at all. Very strange indeed.

    (install drive):\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\bin\aexconfigure /configure /(install drive):\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Config\coresolution.config

You could just do a /configure /configureall, but I think you want to avoid that (if possible). I think my slashies are right, but not positive.

Yeah, they were right and I just ran it with no luck. Still no subnets at all...so strange since I do have site servers and sites!

the systems themselves should autopopulate it (as they report basic inventory). After you ran that repair, can you try (one more time) to manually add one?

Well, it seems that they might be in the DB, just not displayed. I tried to add the same subnet as before and I got an error that stated that the subnet already exists although none are being shown on the page. Again, oddly enough, no errors in the logs that I would expect if an object can't be displayed. I will try to repair ActivityCenter one more time just in case. I also did verify that another admin can't see them either so its not a user-specific issue.

I have looked into the DB and there are about 500 lines in vSubnet and the same number in vSubnetResource. Oddly enough the only rows that have data in them for subnet and subnet mask are the rows that I had created manually.

I used this in the past when having issues.. try running this query..

SELECT guid from vSubnet WHERE Guid not in (select subnetguid from vSiteSubnetMap)

If that works, you can paste that query into the delete items tool on the download page (thumbs up to Andrew B. for this). It gets rid of any subnets not associated to sites.

That should make it possible to start with a clean slate. Not sure if it will make any difference for you.

That did it. Once I deleted the objects in the DB and then clicked Re-Synchronize on the subnets in the console all of my subnets showed up!!! Thanks for the tips!
