  • 1.  Site server replication??

If I want to customize a WinPE build, I add/modify files within the folder "Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\Task Handler\bootwiz\oem\DS\winpe2" on the Site server, then from the SMP console I "Recreate Preboot Environment", then have the site server check in.  After the WinPE re-build is complete on the site server, the changes are then implemented in that site servers WinPE build.

My question is, is there some way to modify files/folders/package etc. on the SMP/NS server to replicate those changes to all Site servers?  The following Symantec KB article seems to suggest that this should happen automatically but isn't the case for me: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH168341

Should replication occur automatically?  If not, anything I can do without writing scripts and creating a task to copy the files to all Site servers?

    Thanks
    Eric

I think DS Copy File task with folder and UNC [not local] option can be helpful here. This task can be run on all the Site Servers (using filter) whenever required and once this task is successful “Recreate Preboot Env” will made the required changes.

This is just a thought :)

    Thanks.

In 7.0, the replication is NOT automatic.  In 7.1 it is not either.  However, in 7.1 SP1 (built on SMP 7.1), a new package was created designed to automatically replicate these folders.  You can see these along side the "drivers" package that was there in earlier versions.

The caveat is that the replication has to actually occur.  You may need to check that it's set to replicate to all PS's, and then go to the site server to verify that the package replication has finished, prior to kicking off the rebuild.

In addition to Thomas post "The caveat is that the replication has to actually occur.  You may need to check that it's set to replicate to all PS's, and then go to the site server to verify that the package replication has finished, prior to kicking off the rebuild."..

Please see if following is helpful here, which is applicable to all DS package for manual replication to all PS:
