Sizing and capacity

Team,

Can some one help to know in the sites there are around 100 desktops systems and 6 server like this their is arround 7 multiple sites at different location . I want to assign group updater server at each locations. Can some one help me to know the number of server do i need to assigna as grpoup updater so it should not impact  the performance of the system and client machine should able to receive update in less period of time .

  1. Put one SEPM server in the main office with embedded database
  2. Put one (or two) GUP in each branch

Keep the SEPM in the main branch & on each remote site you can set up Group update provider.
and also set set the communication mode to Pull to reduce the effect.

Install one server in your HQ and keep a GUP in each location..Have a look at this article also

I have 2 2003 server acting as GUP for 138 clients

Assure that you are having at least one GUP in each site..It is a good decision to keep a client which is having server os as GUP

GUP doesn't need to be server operating systems only. It can be simple Windows XP machines as well.

According to number of locations and total number of computers you have, I will recommend that you should have 1 SEPM with embedded database (or 1 SEPM with SQL database with failover SEPM) and one GUP on each site (can be any XP SEP Client machine).

Since in a site more than 100 clients are present server os is a good option....Because xp having a limit of 10 concurrent tcp connections....
