Skip a day (holiday calendar) in backup exec

Created: 01 Jan 2013 | 6 comments

Hi All,

I need some help with backup exec.  I excluded 1st Jan (holiday) from backup exec, I wanted backup exec to Do Not Start any new job on that day but instead it stopped my running job at 1st Jan at 12:01 am which started on 31st Dec.  Is there anyway in Backup Exec to Stop it from starting job on certain given day without affecting running job?

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply.

That is exactly what I have done. It stopped my running jobs from 31st as soon as clock hits 1/1/2013 00:01 am. My job starts at 7pm everyday and takes 15 hour or so to complete.

What you are experiencing is the side-effect of the new global exclude date in BE 2012.  Although the job is started on the day before the exclude date, it will be canceled when it crossed midnight to the excluded day.  Unfortunately, the only way around this problem is not to set any excluded day.  Excluded day for individual jobs will be brought back in the next release of BE.

As a workaround for this problem.

1) Don't exclude any day.

2) Schedule the BEMCLI cmdlet, Suspend_BEJob to run just before the holiday so that the job schedule will be suspended for the job holiday.  If you need some help getting started with BEMCLI, read my articles below
