    Hello all,

We've been dealing with an annoying issue regarding SLD for a quite long time.

In our company we are using cooperative mode computers only. Every new operating system we are installing through RIS (Remote Installation Services from Microsoft).

I wrote a VBS script for deploying SLD agent using GPO and this script is assigned to any new computers in our Domain. In this way we got quite flexible way of managing our systems – after OS installation, SLD agent for windows is installed and reports itself to the SLD Configuration Server automatically.

The problem we’ve encounter is when we want to reinstall Operating System on computers that already has some packages installed through SLD. In this case after new agent installation computer is again ready to work with SLD Server but all old assigned packaged remains in the SLD database.

Has anyone struggled with similar issue? Do you know if there is a way to enforce any SLD service to clear SLD database entries while new SLD agent with the same ID communicates with the server?

It would be far easier to drop RIS than to implement what you are asking for. You could use CLI to enumerate all packages on a given client into a list and then deleting them. Alternatively you could remove the client from the server before performing the Autodiscover. (Again using CLI or admintool.bat - if you don't have that and don't know anybody who does, get in touch with PSO)

Why in the world do you stick with RIS? You'd have far more flexibility and usability by using an OS Package inside SLD.
