the sep for mac client installer package no longer uses an mpkg bundle with individual pkg files so the steps have changed.
before 12.1.2, the definitions was its own pkg bundle within the mpkg bundle, making it easy to swap out with the pkg bundled included from the updater downloaded from sarc site (http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions.jsp). the sarc site still distributes the same pkg bundle to update virus defs on already installed client and does work with 12.1.2 clients.
however, in 12.1.2, the definitions are separated from the pkg bundle and isn't bundled in the same way as the updater found on the sarc site.
the 12.1.2 sep for mac installer package separates out the definition installation outside of the signed pkg under a folder called "Additional Resources". That folder has a zip file, "SEPDEFs.zip", containing files similar to the files found in "/Library/Application Support/Symantec/AntiVirus/Engine" (which is where the definitions for the client exist).
I've tried updating the SEPDEFS.zip file with newer files, but the installer rejects it and tells me to run LiveUpdate to install definitions.
what am i missing?
