  • 1.  Slow console

    I've run into a very interesting issue. I have security enabled and am hiding folders that my techs do not have access to and they are seeing a large amount of lag (takes several seconds for them to access things).

    I'm an administrator so I don't see the same problems and the console is run from a UNC path so the network load during the day I'm sure has an effect on this.

    My question is, does anyone know of a way to fix this? I've had them adjust the console as far as scanning for resources but that only marginally helps.

    Haven't heard of the happening to anyone else and it isn't happening here. You want to take a look at KB44220. Its a different issue but its possible that the newer eXpress.exe might work better for you.

    Assuming you are in the same building (making tests from the same location would be better)
    - How do you (Admin) access the console? UNC or RDP the Server?
    - Have you tried installing the local console instead of UNC access?
    - Have you created a 'dummy' user to see by yourself the result?
    - Is it the same with the security disabled?

    @Anthony - I'm already running that express update.

    @apascucci -- These are all same building/location

    -UNC

    -No I haven't yet. I was trying to avoid that if at all possible as we update the tools.ini file a lot and that ends up being local.

    -I have and It's not nearly as bad on certain machines

    -I'm not sure and not really an option in our environment. I have to have security running.

    All in all it seems like network degredation as time goes by and running local might be my only option. Is there a good process laid out for setting up a local install of the 6.9 console?

    Copy eXpress.exe and all the dll's and ini's from the eXpress share locally. Then change the console shortcut to run from the location that you copied the files.
