  • 1.  Slow remote control

When I try to remote control a Dell T3400 with a Dell 22" wide display (E228WFP), I experience a 5-10 second delay with every action. I can remote control another T3400 with a Gateway 22" wide display without any delay. I tried changing the remote control color depth view to 8Bpp and it did not change anything…still painfully slow. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can't see why the monitor would have anything to do with remote control. Video card, processor and memory would all effect remote control. Do both T3400 have the same configuration (video card, processor, memory)? Did you swapping out the monitors between the 2 T3400's to see if the problem follows the monitor?

I wonder if it could have something to do with resolution? Are both computers set to the same resolution? Also, are there any drivers that have been loaded for either monitor?

I doubted the monitors at first too and chased the network configuration for a while but ended up going back to blaming the monitors. Both T3400's have the same image and hardware configuration. I did not swap the monitors because the slowness is occurring on all Dell monitors.

Here's some other troubleshooting that I tried. I switched from a DVI to VGA connection and rebooted -- still slow. I then switched back from VGA to DVI and rebooted and it started functioning normally (both at 8Bpp and true color). So then I tried rebooting the machine next to it with a DVI connection (and without swapping cables) and it did not make it any faster. It makes no sense!

I had the same problem with T3400's. I found out the problem was the Quadro NVS 290 video card. To fix the problem I changed the hardware acceleration setting in the Advanced tab of the display properties.  I moved acceleration down one notch and disabled only cursor and bitmap acceleration. If that does not work then make sure to download the latest driver from the NVIDIA website. Hope that helps.

For those using some Lenovo Laptop models you should also note that hardware acceleration will need to be brought down as well.  It's caused us I don't know how many problems with Live meeting.
