  • 1.  SMA agent comnmunication issue

    Hi all,

    A very good day to you all.

    We have some issue for the client machine Altiris SMA agent to communicate with the Altiris Notification Server. When we have scheduled a job task to a particular machine PC in order to collect the inventory data, and when we check the SMA agent in the machine PC, we have noticed that the machine PC is not receiving any job task from the server. When we check the "Task Status" under the SMA agent, the status shown "Shutting Down".

    Please help to advise why the SMA agent is not communicating with the Altiris server. We need the solution the soonest.

    Restart the SMA service on the client
    Ensure the Altiris and Symantec services are all started on your NS
    Ensure your NS's task service is running
    If you are using task servers other than the NS, ensure they are in proper working order

    Is this occurring for a subset of clients or for all clients?

    I've seen this occur sometimes when the upgrade policy for the SMA is enabeld on the NS. Did you recently upgrade to a newer version of NS? I agree with mclemson on restarting the SMA client... You can use the AeXAgentUtil.exe /restart to do this on the local machine. The default install directory is @ c:\program files\altiris\altiris agent\AeXAgentUtil.exe. You can also use the /clean switch to completely remove the agent and then use NS to manually reinstall it.

     

     

    Let us know if restarting it solves it for you.
