  • 1.  Smart Array P400 Drive assignments

    If one sets up the array as a R1 + R5, the contoller sees the drives as decrementing from slot4 - slot1 for the first  half of the bay and slot8 -slot5 for the second half. This means that the mirrored pair is configured on drives 4 and 3. The remaining drives, drive 2, drive 1, and drives 8-5 will then used for the RAID 5. This occurs when using file pl-acu-r1r5.ini. Are there other specific parameters to edit this file to allow one to force slot1 and slot2 to use the R1 config and the remaining drives for R5?

    Found it in the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit for Windows. Also manually configured in BIOS and then had Altiris read the config to validate.
