smc command line parameters - docs vs. reality

Created: 01 Oct 2013 | 1 comment

Hi all,

Accordind to "Installation_and_Administration_Guide_SEP12.1.2.pdf" available on the 12.1.3 SEP installer (as well as 12.1.1) the scm.exe tool accepts a number or parameters to import/export settings.

When running the tool is does not support those, in fact it shows an entirily other list of supported parameters.

Also http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH103048 shows a list of parameters similar (but not the same) as the pdf above.

I my case I have a SEP 12.1.3, deployed as unmanaged client, and I try to work around the fact that the LiveUpdate proxy settings of the SEP client are reset after each reboot.

So my questions would be:

  • what are the exact parameters supported by smc.exe
  • is there a posibility on a unmanaged client to automate changes to settings (in my case LiveUpdate related and mostly the proxy)

Thanks,

florin

Hello,

having proxy settings reset after a reboot does not seem an expected behavior, did you report it to Technical Support for investigation?

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH103048 is for SEP 11, the pdf should be the most appropriate reference. If you see any incongruity, please report it to Tech Support.
