  • 1.  SMC does not start

    Hi,

    We are using Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0. On one of the computers, The SMC service does not start.

    Also please let me know a tool from symantec to remotely uninstall any SEP client.

    did you try running in command promprt

    smc -start

    I tried restarting it in administrative tools-> services. But it does not start.

    go to start --> run and copy the smc -start and presss OK.

    Let know if it starts smc service.

    Hi 

      Run a repair and it will Fixed ...

    I believe there is  no remote uninstall.

    Since if cannot remove the SEP , then you use Cleanwipe tool.

    To get the Clean wipe tool you have to call the Symantec tech support.

    You can use symantec cleanwipe available on fileconnect to uninstall SEP

    However ,I think it is wiser for you to run Symantec support tool on the affected machine to identify the underlying cause which is preventing SMC service from starting

    Also,which version of SEP is installed on the computer?

    Any error code in windows event viewer or SEP log files?

    What is the OS on the machine?

    Debug the Symantec Endpoint Protection client and post the debug log
