SMC service is stopping frequently in GUP
Hi All,
We are having the SEP 12.1 RU1 clients in our environment. Currenly we have encountered the issue of Symantec Management Client Service is frequently stopping on GUPs. When we try to start the same it will start and work as usual. We can see there is a dependant service associated with it called Syamntec Endpoint Protection. However the same is always in started mode. Could not find the reason of this abnormal behaviour.
Just to inform one point here that our licenses are in grace period. Is this the reason for such incident. I could see some of the error in the debug file
"Error: FreeCacheEntry called on an entry in use"
"GUProxy: invalid socket on accept, error 10004"
" ERROR socket error [10038] during send of response".
Can anybody please put some light on the issue.

the error is not related to license. the debug does not reveal the issue.

Have you checked by pass GUP and get to management server, when GUP is not available?

Please block user's ability to disable Symantec Endpoint Protection on Clients.

Is it happening in all GUPs? Or it is happening in one particular GUP?

Look like a bug in 12.1 RU1 which is fixed in 12.1 RU2

However I have not yet implemented RU2 in our environment. Will check and confirm by upgrading the client to RU2.
However is the same mentioned in Release notes for RU2?
