This issue has been solved. See solution.

We are having the issue that for each user on a Citrix Server an instance of SMCGUI.EXE is launched.
I know there is a workaround for that: http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/854fa02b4f5013678825731a007d06af/43316a227377bbe58825745d007d3678?OpenDocument
But in the release notes of RU5 I read:
High CPU utilization on Terminal Servers with multiple active sessions
Fix ID:
1201882
Symptoms: Each session on a Terminal Server runs an instance of SMCGUI, which causes high CPU utilization.
Solution: Symantec Endpoint Protection now allows for a client to disable the extra components from loading in separate sessions.

How do I need to apply the solution for RU5? Is that, hopefully, possible from the management console? Or do I just need to apply the 'classic' workaround and, if yes, what is than really the fix in RU5?

Nobody has an answer on this?

Nobody has an answer on this? Maybe a Symantec Employee?
If not, I'll open a call with Symantec to see what they say.

The issue mentioned has been taken care of in the Fix which in incorporated in RU5. Therefore if you install or upgrade to RU5 it should resolve your issue.

So you mean that, without

So you mean that, without applying any patch, configuration or registry hack only one instance of SMCGUI.EXE will be running on our Citrix servers, no matter how many connected clients on that Citrix server?

In RU5 I still see multiple

In RU5 I still see multiple instances of smcgui.exe (on per logged on users) on our Citrixservers.
So my question is: what is exactly fixed with Fix ID 1201882

on RU5, le multiple instances

on RU5, le multiple instances still appears only if you do not deactivate the icon in the systray of the Citrix server.

You can do that on the parameter of the client (under the policies).

After deactivation, the icon does not appear twice and the SMCgui process is not loaded on the Citrx server

Nota : excuse me for the traduction but my interface (and first langage) is french

i assume this feature only

i assume this feature only shows up if SEPM itself is RU5? if it does, this will give me reason to upgrade my SEPM.

thanks.

 The CPU  consumption by

The CPU  consumption by smcgui can be reduced but the each logged in client will have its own smcgui.
The best option would be to disable it for Citrix servers.

Look at
Appendix D: Preventing SmcGui, ProtectionUtilSurrogate and ccApp running for all users
