    Hello Everyone,

    I want all of your's contribution in understanding Symantec Messaging Gateway. Please find the details below:

    ENVIRONMENT:

    • Exchange 2010 environment
    • Edge--Hub/CAS--DAG(mailboxes)
    • two sites (primary and secindary)
    • Forefront mail security installed on Edge server.

     

    REQUIREMENT:

    • Replace forefront with SMG

     

    I want all your expert advised on how can i proceed with it? Should i keep the Edge Server as it is or SMG can take the role of Edge. I need an aswer with explaintaion on it. Please share your views.

    You obviously cannot get rid of the Edge Server role, the SMG operates as an extension to your exchange environment.  The SMG is typically placed as the smarthost by the edge server for outbound email, and is where inbound mail comes from as well.  Kinda like:

    Internal Exchange Roles <--> Edge Transport <--> SMG <--> Internets

    Don' forget, there's also the below product, which can be directly installed onto your Exchange Servers (the same way that Forefront sits on Exchange).

    Thanks SMLatCST...

    So you have any implement plan with you or step by step document for installation?

     

    Also if we deploy 2 scanner then MX rocord will point to which server ( scanner or COntrol center)?
