For quite a while our company is using SMG in-front of exchange. Though the company has shrinked by alot, and its renewal period for the SMG license.
SMG licensing works per user. That much I know.
Though I do not have any users added in SMG, I only have the default rule in policy groups under Users.
How exactly does SMG count the users? Since users are not added.
If I use the "find users" under Users tab in the admin web console I get this reply "This email address is configured as a valid user address"
for any email address in or outside the organization. In fact you can make up an email address such as ena@paistinpotamia.com (which does not exist) and you still get the reply "This email address is configured as a valid user address".
So any suggestions on how exactly the licensing works?
