Hi, SMG for Service Providers is a application that you install it onto Windows/Linux/Solrais based OS. You usually use the client application "bmifilter", included with SMG for Service Providers, to integrate with your gateway MTA and use "bmserver" as you SPAM/Virus detection engine. Or you could use the Brightmail SDK, or BSDK, to integrate with your own application to work with bmserver. SMG is a appliance that has all Mail Server/SPAM/Virus/Content fitering/Qurantine/Web Control Center all integrated into one solution. If you have a gateway MTA and Add SPAM/Virus onto it, then go for SMG for Service Providers. If you can replace the gateway MTA to a total Mail gateway solution, then go for SMG. Hope this helps, Haro

Can you share what you are attempting to achieve with the Messaging Gateway? It would make it easier to share which of these two options would be the best one for you to utilize.

Hi, If you are still not sure which to use, then I'd recommend you go with SMG. You should place SMG at the gateway, so you are able to make use of Connection Class and other goodies that SMG provides you. Also SMG provides good GUI to ease setup. On the other hand, as the product name "SMG for Service Providers" indicates, SMG for SP targets service providers and carrier class users, that provide Anti-Spam services to end users. It has not GUI and all setup must be done though command line. Additionally, unless you have Milter capable MTA, you have to use the Brightmail SDK to integrate SMG for SP with your MTA. Hope this helps, haro
