  • 1.  SMM co-existence with Backup Exec and SEP Manager

Anyone know if SMM can happily sit on the same server as Backup Exec and SEP Manager?

I'm looking into getting this setup later today and I'd rather not create another server for something as lightweight as this.

I've had a look over this article which is the most relevant article I've found. It looks like SMM will be OK with the BE install, but I'm not so sure about SEPM.

Has anyone here seen a similar setup?

    Thanks

I wouldn't recommend combining this server with your antivirus/antithreat management server and your backup server since you are also allowing access to end-user computers.  However, if you are not managing mobile devices that are internet-connected, then it could be argued that things are secure enough on the internal wireless network.

Your MMS server will need to bind an HTTPS certificate on a port, typically 443, but this is flexible, in order to communicate with end-user devices.

Hmm, very true. Yes, we will be managing internet-connected devices so I think I may well create a new server and direct my clients there from the firewall.

    Thanks for that
