SMP 7.1 SP2 and IT Analytics 7.1 SP2 Problem

    Hi Folks,

    After upgrading to SMP 7.1 SP2 and IT Analytics 7.1 SP2 a problem has been identified where by when you go to the IT Analytics Cube Setup,

     

    The following cubes are available, but pre-requisites have not been met: Display cube descriptions
    Cube Name Pre-requisites
    Assets A connection to a CMDB that includes the following solutions must be configured: Asset Management Solution
    Software License Compliance A connection to a CMDB that includes the following solutions must be configured: Asset Management Solution
    Software Purchases A connection to a CMDB that includes the following solutions must be configured: Asset Management Solution

    I went to the  IT Analytics 7.1 documentation and it talks about

     Including or Excluding the local Symantec CMDB (Page 31)
    
    To include or exclude the local CMDB
    
    1 In the Symantec Management Console, on the Settings menu, click
    
    Notification Server > IT Analytics Settings.
    
    2 In the left pane, expand the Connections folder.
    
    3 Click SymantecCMDB.
    
    4 In the right pane under Local SymantecCMDBConnection select to include
    
    or exclude the local Symantec CMDB.
    
    Installing and configuring IT Analytics Solution 31
    
    Deleting external Symantec CMDB connections
    
    5 Click Save Changes.
    
    6 Once the Updating Dependencies dialog box is complete, click Close. 

     

    But when I go to step 4) all I see is the option to add an external CMDB.

    Can anyone else confirm if this is what they see, or perhaps offer any suggestions?

    I see the exact same message.  Going through the steps you list above I see no additional options other than what was there before, which for us its empty. 

    Also inventory solution is installed already.

    To confirm the full CMS solutions are installed, including asset, inventory, SMS. We use barcode solution and that's working.

    We have this problem in our Dev and Test environments, and have not yet upgraded Production.

    Did a repair of Asset Solution, no change.

    I had the same issue and I resolved it only after running a repair to the DB (Settings - Notification Server - Data Base Settings, and in the middle choose the Symantec_CMDB DB and click on the Repair Database button).

    Make sure you backup your DB before running it. It can take a few hours to run depending on the DB size.

    Thanks guys, we rebuilt the DB and this has fixed the issues.

    Ran the rebuild. It does take a while. I kicked it off around 8.30 pm and by 11.00 pm it was still only showing 1% complete, and that was when the IE window wasn't showing as "Not responding". Seemd to have completed OK by the next morning.

    Approx 2500 clients and full CMS but no Asset.

    Are there any other solutions rather than repair the database that could fix the issue.  Such as import the views into the database.  My only reason for asking is due to we've had a lot of issues with 7.1 sp2 and made changes to the database inserting stored procedures removing corrupt data, that I don't want all of this to relapse and reappear once the repair is done on the database.  Analytics would be nice functioning properly.  But I don't want to reset the progress we've already made.  Any thoughts?

    If you've made changes to the db you need to document and script them right now before you do anything else. So you can repeat them if you have further problems.

    Received this doc from tech support after I posted earlier.  It will repair the stored procedure required for the asset cubes and reports to be installed correctly.  I just completed this process and everything is working beautifully.

     

    It is noted in the email I received that if this doesn't work then a repair or IT Analytics and any Hotfixes associated with IT Analytics should be repaired via the SIM and then the script documented in this doc should fix any remaining issues, should any exist.

    Did it fix all cubes or did you just have problems with your Asset cubes?
