  • 1.  SMP 7.5 - Altiris Enhanced Console Views Not Showing Up After Install

    I have installed the entire Client Management Suite (along with Deployment Solution) all at the same time.  When I launch the console, the simple view shows up.  I cannot get the enhancement console views to show up.   We are using SMP 7.5 (before HF1).

     

    I have already seen these articles:

     

    What I have tried so far (with no results):

    1. Using SIM to repair Altiris Client Management Suite Portal Page
    2. Using SIM to repair entire Client Management and ITMS suites

    Any ideas?

    Update:  I just uninstalled The Altiris Deployment Solution 7.5 and the Enhanced Console views are now showing up.

    Altiris Team - Is this some sort of bug?  My initial install was the full Client Management Suite (including DS7.5).  How come enhanced console views work after uninstalling the deployment solution?

    I will try to re-install and see if the enhanced console views remain.

    Final Update

    I am posting these updates and this solution so that others who might have the same problem can easier resolve their problem and so that Symantec is aware of an existing issue with installing a full suite (ITMS and CMS).

    The resolution for this problem is to

    1. Completely uninstall the Altiris Deployment Solution 6.5 using SIM. In our case, after uninstall completed, the enhanced console views showed up (but they might not if you have never installed the Deployment Solution).
    2. Install the Deployment Solution again.  After this, the Enhanced Console Views should start up.

    Note:  If you try to just repair the installation, it won't work.

    Hi ebooda,

      You don't have to uninstall and reinstall the altiris suite 7.5 you can just fix this by uninstalling and reinstalling the activity center

    Hi ebooda,

    It looks like the product or the order that multiple products are installed (as in TECH159682) fails to kick off Silverlight, which allows the Enhanced Views to be displayed. I'm not sure if this is going to be addressed in a future build, but at least the document explains that it is a known issue.

    If you have any additional questions, please drop them into this thread. I usually check into the forums every day.

    Oh, and thanks for submitting the workaround that you were able to implement.
