  • 1.  SMP 7.5 - Can you export and import Altiris Security Roles?

    In the Account Managment -> Roles section, I see that you can export a role, but I don't see an option to import a role.  Is it possible to export/import roles?  Is there a best practice for doing this?

    We have a couple of environments and it would be a pain to have to set up roles from scratch over and over again.

    You have three options: 1. Use the exportimportutil.exe tool that comes with the smp. 2. Setup standalone replication between the two smp's. 3. Setup hierarchy replication between the two smp's.

    Hi,

    You can import exported roles via Organizational Views & Groups page:

    Open Manage->All Resources

    Click on "Default" organizational view

    Click on [filter...] button in right corner

    Set checkbox on "Role"  (Security Resource -> Trustee)

    Now you able to see the list of roles under "Default" organizational view

    Use righ-click for export or import roles.
