  • 1.  The SMP Console reports task failure even though it is executed on the clients.

    Posted Aug 21, 2012 11:37 AM

    Problem:

    • It appears that the agents are not communicating back to NS that they are complete.
    • Task is running until it times out on the NS Server.

We have read the following articles over the issue and checked the following:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO21623

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH180013

Checked the above and we are running the same version of the CTDataLoad.exe on both the NS and SS servers and registry keys are correct.

Has anyone seen this or experienced this problem?

If so; what did you do to correct the issue?

Have you applied SMP 7.1 SP2 Rollup V3 or V4?

I have experienced this - To resolve we did a Rollup V4 to our CMS 7.1 SP2 NS server. Then had to cleanly uninstall the Agent and reinstall the Rollup V4 Agent. I had a subsequent issue with the Agents not communicating back to the NS server after the Rollup and found that the Altiris Client Task Data Loader service was not running. I started it and the clients began communcating their stats again.
