  • 1.  SMP Database Schema

So I found this guy here: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.DOC3724.html

The only problem I have with this document is that I'm running SMP 8.0 HF3 and that is for SMP 7.1. After looking through the document and comparing tables from there to what I have in my CMDB it looks like it's a little out of date. It also doesn't do the best job of explaining or showing relationships between the tables.

Is there a newer documentation out there for 8.0?

I've never found another database schema than this.

The big database change happend when Altiris changed the version from 6 to 7. After this change, I don't believe that Symantec changed the database structure.

To be honest, I'm still using this database schema nowadays, but if Symantec launch out a new database schema documentation, it will be a pleasure.

I've never found a good reference into what tables have what data.  I've kind of learned which tables do what over the years.  I will say that using the SQL Server Profiler or even the Altiris Profiler tools have helped me narrow down the tables that certain parts of the console use.  The schema document you've referenced is the last one that was created and it should be mostly correct.  There's been little things that have been changed since 7.1 such as the additions of CEM, agent health, as well as many other things.

If you need any help finding specific data in the database try these articles:

I linked the IRC chat as myself and a couple of others that know the database frequent it.  Feel free to join and ask away.
