The document Fafeeq has

The document Fafeeq has provided a link to should cover you.

If you have the JCE installed it should just be a matter of removing the Jlu.Session.End.dat file and then letting JLU run again.

Dear colleagues,what's tasks

Dear colleagues,

What's tasks LiveUpdate (LU) name in task manager?
Could you please explain more detail for fixing the issue? because i am new comer in Symantec Live Update
I have tried to stop NTASK and NPAS, and then tried to delete all windows\temp\ files. but not all files can be deleted
Also, i can't find Jlu.Session.End.dat file in C:\Windows\temp, where location should find it? I think if not found, it mean there no session run, isn't it?

I use JRE 1.6, does should i still install JCE? I check that JRE 1.6 contains JCE class. And it is newer than JCE class refer in internet.
The LU has run for 2 weeks, able to download definition very well. suddently it dont work 2 weeks ago.
I think  it work well before. I think it work even don't install JCE
info: the liveupdate.conf size = 0 kb

I read instruction #10. Try running LiveUpdate from the GUI. This should complete successfully.
How to run LiveUpdate from GUI?

Ben, i send you some files about this issue

Thank you for your kind help

Yes the JCE must be

Yes the JCE must be downloaded from sun installed.

The Liveupdate task does not run from within domino. The nntask process is our mail and write scanning task, npas is for premium antispam.

It is Java Liveupdate and simply uses Java to run so you will not see a Liveupdate.exe only a java task in the windows task manager.

Liveupdate.conf being 0 kb is a good indicator that you do not have the JCE installed. You will need to uninstall SMSDom, install the JCE and reinstall SMSdom with liveupdate again for it to work. The JCE is a requirement not an option and lack of the JCE can cause Java Liveupdate to not work as expected.

Following all of the steps in the document that was linked earlier.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/...

You can download the JCE from the following location:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

LiveUpdate run well without JCE

Ben,

I reinstalled the SMSDOM license and disabled auto purge on definition db week ago. Now the LiveUpdate can run well, even not use JCE
I use JRE 1.6

How do you think?

Typically use of the

Typically use of the definition database is not needed. It mearly stores the definitions for distribution to other servers running SMSDom that may not have the ablity to run live update.

Java LiveUpdate may run with out the JCE but it is not supportable with out the JCE as the lack of the JCE can cause unepexcted/undesired behavior and make it impossible to make configuration changes to JLU it self such as changing the servers it will use or adding proxy information, if you do encounter problems with it we would ask the JCE be installed.
