I installed the management console for SMSMSE 6.0.10.295 on a remote computer and have not been able to open it. I have been recieveing the following messages Access is denied to asset ex1.domain.com

I followed the instructions in article http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-gate.nsf/... and made sure I was in the SMSMSE Admins group

I then used the tool on the same page to check my SID to NT name translation.

I followed the instructions here http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/...

I made sure the folders C:\Program Files\Symantec\SMSMSE\6.0\Server  and C:\Program Files\Symantec\CMaF\ had the SMSMSE Admins group added to them with full rights.

I also check and verified the the DCOM setting from the same article above. This is running on a XP machine so no UAC. The user has full rights to exchange as well as being a domain admin. They are also in the SMSMSE Admin group and can open the console fine from the exchange server but whenever I try to connect from my desktop it give me access denied and logs the following in the event viewer...

Hi Matthew, What version of

Hi Matthew,

What version of Windows is the remote server running?

Can you try to connect to the following website:

Http://<remote server IP address>:8081/dexl.asmx

This is the website the SMSMSE console is attempting to connect to on the remote server. You will need to authenticate. You should see a page with DExL at the top and a Pull and Push option.

The remote system is running

The remote system is running MS Server 2003 Sp2

When I tried connecting to the website you listed above I get a webpage with the following error message

XML Parsing Error: no element found
Location: http://cusaex1:8081/dexl.asmx
Line Number 1, Column 1:

Any idea why or how to fix short of reinstalling the software?

I noticed that OWA was broke

I noticed that OWA was broke by the SMSMSE install also, so I deleted the OWA site and reset the folders allowing the system attendent to recreate the OWA site. Now OWA works and when I go to Http://<remote server IP address>:8081/dexl.asmx I do get the DExL page and the push pull option but when I open the SMSMSE console and attempt to connect to the remote server it asks for credentials which I enter and I get "Unable to connect to the remote server" and the option to retry and cancel. If I retry it asks for credentials again but still same error. I have tried (username, domain\username, and username@domain.com.... none of them seem to work.

Any ideas?!?

Um... anyone? I have

Um... anyone? I have reinstalled the SMSMSE server and console but still the same error. Is remotely administering this product not supposed to be possible or not advised?
