SMSMSE 6.5 Interactive Services Detection Message

Created: 20 Dec 2012 • Updated: 02 May 2014 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

This message pops up constantly through out the day. I upgraded to 7.0 today hoping to fix it and all the files in the 6.5/server folder are gone. The message is still popping up every 10-15 minutes. Checked application and system error logs with nothing from mail security.

Again right now I am running version 7.0.0.63

Greetings Sonic,

The Interactive Services Detection is a Microsoft service and I am not able to give you the exact specific reason for the pop-up, however, I can try to shed some light on what could possibly cause this.

Microsoft no longer permits services running under the System account to interact with users or users accounts. SMSMSE runs under the System account and does interact with users and user accounts.

I have found the following article that may help explain this service, what it does and how to stop the pop-ups. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/patricka/archive/2011/03/14/troubleshooting-interactive-services-detection.aspx

Thank you

Monica

Thank you for responding. Seems after a system restart after the 7.0 upgrade it has stopped. Then after reading your response I noticed that with the new version it no longer uses the system account but one named "smse" which the installer made.

Issue is resolved by upgrading to 7.0.0.63.
