In SMSMSE 6.5, is there any way to stop auto-protect from scanning the same files and flagging the same problems over and over again?

We've got auto-protect set to run continuously during "off hours", evenings and all weekend.  One of our users sent an email to another internal user with an encrypted attachment.  Now every couple of hours, the sender and the recipient get a "Symantec mail security detected a message with an encrypted attachment" message.  It's annoying the hell out of the users.  I know I could turn off notification to the users, but then they would not be notified when an actual problem is detected...
