We recently installed Encryption Desktop 10.3.2 on a windows 2008R2 x64 server and since then outgoing email sent via SMTP is stuck in the MailRoot\Queue folder.  We have tried turning off the messaging feature, stopping the PGP service, turning off Email Proxy and more...nothing works except uninstalling Encryption Desktop.  When we uninstall the email stuck in the queue goes out and any new emails go out right away.  Reinstall Encryption Desktop and newly created mail gets stuck.

Searching online has not revealed any solutions.  We need to be able to send email and use PGP encryption to encrypt and decrypt files.  Note, we do not want or need to send or receive encrypted email.  PGP is just for encrypting and decrypting files.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

    Hi motiongrid,

Please install the client without the LSP component. As you have Outlook, exclude also the MAPI component.

    • LSP - proxies SMTP/POP and IMAP
    • MAPI - proxies MAPI

To disable those two Encryption Desktop components:
    msiexec /i pgpdesktop.msi PGP_INSTALL_MAPI=0 PGP_INSTALL_LSP=0

See: Encryption Desktop (formerly PGP Desktop) installation MSI switches to disable components at installation - HOWTO84112

Thanks for the info, however, all I have is SymantechEncryptionDesktopWin64-10.3.2.exe which I used to install the product.  Where can I get pgpdesktop.msi?  And what folder is msiexec.exe in?  I see this in c:\Windows\System32 and c:\Windows\SysWOW64 and a few other folders.

I am looking for the exact syntax to use from the command prompt if possible.

Nevermind I found an article that explains how to begin the installation using the SymantecEncryptionDesktopWin64-10.3.2.exe, then search for the pgpdesktop.msi file, copy it to the desktop and then running the install using msiexec.

I am installing now and hopefully will find that pgpdesktop no longer blocks outgoing mail on this server.

    Hi motiongrid,

    Thank you for your reply.
Adding here a reference to that article as it may also be useful to other people: How to extract the Symantec Encryption Desktop MSI Installation File from the .exe standalone installer - TECH167331.
