Snapshot provider error (0xE000851C)

Created: 05 Oct 2006 • Updated: 23 May 2010 | 5 comments

AOFO: Initialization failure on: "Server:". Advanced Open File Option used: VERITAS Volume Snapshot Provider (VSP). Snapshot provider error (0xE000851C): Cache files required for the VERITAS Volume Snapshot Provider (VSP) snapshot could not be created. Check that there is at least 50 MB of free disk space, and review the settings for the snapshot that are reported in the job log. Check the Windows Event Viewer for details.

I do have enough space. How do I resolve this issue ?

Thanks

Hi,

Which path have you set as the location for the Cache file?

Click on "Tools" > "Wizards" > "Advanced Open File Option Wizard" and check the path of the cache file.

If the path doesnt have enough disk space, change the cache file location.

Please refer to:

I am having this same issue. I initially had AOFO Wizard settting on Default. Then specified it to be on E:\ which is a 500GB disk specifically for B2D. It has 400GB+ of free space. The amount of data being backed up is only 4GB.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the AOFO option and it did not have any effect.

I need resolution on this ASAP!

I have the same problem with AOFO.There is enough diskspace to make snapshot. http://support.veritas.com/docs/274096 did not help. AOFO was installed on 20 boxes and backup is performed with the error mentioned above on 7 of them. OS is the same on all boxes.
