Try increasing Client Read and File browse time out on client's host properties or inherit it from Master server

CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT should be set on the Media server, not the client.

in client hosts file write the Qualified name for master server and media

IP_ADDRESS master_server.XXX.XX master_server.

that will solve your problem

There is 2 minutes between 'Begin writing' and 'Broken pipe'.
So, I don't believe we are dealing with a timeout.

We don't have all the info in Job Details, but at this point it seems as if connection between media server and client has been established. So, I doubt that we are dealing here with hostname lookup that will be resolved by /etc/hosts entries.

We need to see the following logs (if the folders don't exist, please create them under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs, no need to restart NBU, and retry backup):

On client: bpcd and bpbkar

On media server: bptm and bpbrm

Please rename logs to reflect process name (e.g. bptm.txt) and post all 4 logs as attachments.

Have these clients ever worked, or are they new.

On the media server please run this and post the output:

bptestbpcd -client <client name> -verbose -debug

Make sure the client can resolve the host name of the media server (both forwards and reverse lookup ) and also that the media server can resolve the client name.

Thanks,

Martin

What is the client, Linux, Windows, Solaris ?

Ensure no firewalls are blocking the ports 13782 ,13724 and 1556
