SOE Import Issue

I am having issues with importing a SOE into Software Manager. I am using WPS 7.0SP3 and the OS is WinXP SP2. The version of Wise does not seem to be the problem because I had the same issue when I was running WPS 6.01.

I have attaced the error I received.

This is the error I receive in Task Details of Wise Task Manager

Could not find 10 files in this script. Import completed.

Registry \Control Panel\don't load\\1901:INSERT statement conflicted with COLUMN FOREIGN KEY constraint 'ForRegString'. The conflict occurred in database 'Software Manager Database', table 'RegString', column 'StringID'.

The statement has been terminated.

Has anyone seen this and where you able to correct the problem? Any help will be great.

Thanks

John

Are you importing the files associated with the SOE into the sharepoint as well? If so, then the SOE snapshot MUST be imported from the machine it was created on.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I was not importing the files just the SOE database into Software Manager. I did try from the same PC as the SOE was created but that also failed. The error in the original post came from the import I was doing on the server itself.

I am going to try and redo the SOE and try importing that and see if that helps any.

How much RAM is present in the machine on which you are trying to generate the SOE? From my experiments, you need at least 384Mb and preferably 512Mb to get a successful SOE output. That was on XP. You may need more RAM if working on Vista.

The PC is XPSP2 with 512mb.. I have upped the page size to 1.5gb and made initial and maximum both the same. The SOE file gets created successfully but I am unable to import it into Software Manager. I am rebuilding my PC that I am building the SOE on now and hope that will correct the issue.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Have you checked through the many articles in the Knowledge Base that get thrown up if you search on 'SOE' within Wise Package Studio ?

Have you tried the above suggestions already?

If you have, that's pretty much all the ideas I can suggest, apart from asking you how big your XP image is (assuming it's XP)?

It is NOT good practice to capture an SOE image of the operating system with a bunch of applications installed. Ensure that the SOE snapshot is of the operating system ONLY.

So what have you checked so far

This thread has a number of actions to try.
Have you tried any of them yet?
Just posting that you have an issue without giving ANY other information is truly pointless, unless of course you just want to tell us you have a problem on a purely statistical basis, and are not interested in seeking a solution.
