Software Applicability rule issue when using major/minor and service pack major/minor versions

  • 1.  Software Applicability rule issue when using major/minor and service pack major/minor versions

    Posted Jul 25, 2014 03:20 PM

I am writing an applicability rule for the following OS's to deploy IE11:

    Windows 7 SP1+/Windows 2008 R2 SP1+
    Windows 8/Windows 2012
    Windows 8.1/Windows 2012 R2

When I set up the rule similar to the attached screenshot I use:ie11applic.png

Major Version 6 Minor Version 1
Service pack major 1 service pack minor 0

Major Version 6 Minor Version 2
Service pack major <empty> service pack minor <empty>

Major Version 6 Minor Version 3
Service pack major <empty> service pack minor <empty>

When I click save then go back into edit it has changed to every one of my conditions to:

Service pack major 1 service pack minor 0

Is this a bug? I can get around it by setting the SPmajor/min to 0/0 on the other conditions, but I really want it to detect all future service packs for Windows 6.2 and 6.3 and not just 0.0.

    Hi,

About Service pack major version - > this issue has been logged and will be fixed according to priority in one of the future releases. Currently to avoid such situation please fill the Service Pack Major version before save the rule.

About detection of all future service packs -> currently to handle this you should add new windows version standard rule to the expression for each new Windows version or SP (new version and SP are not appears very frequently).

    Regards,
