Hello all,

I'm having an issue here, i have some machines(the number i'm not certain of, yet) that have the software delivery and update agent installed but their status is showing as disabled.  i'm using version 6.1

Yes i do have the software delivery agent rollout set to Enable.

for the installs of all the agents i'm using, both the pull and the push options are being used. and after reviewing some of the recent machines there is not a trend that can be seen...
see the attachemnt for a pic.

i'm not sure what would be causing this.

any ideas.

This is normal behvior for most built in packages

if you have the roll-out policies set the default "run once asap". You'll notice that they also say "not scheduled" in the far right column. If you ever need to run that agent roll-out policy again, say after a new upgrade, you'll need to change your policy to a scheduled time, for example 'daily'.

humm

i've changed to the agent policy, actually i had both set to the run once asap and then had a schedule set as well. i've removed the run once asap
am i going to be able to push out packages to these people whom have "disabled" status, after they recieve the updated agent policy?

i will have to say i've noticed something here... that those machines that  a pull was performed on has this issue and if it was a push to the machines, the problem(s) don't/didn't .

thoughts.

If the agent is installed already, it will not install again

I think you're worried about a non-issue. If the client has the correct agents, even if you continually reinstall them, the status won't change.

Notice is says software

Notice is says software update agent "package". To even see that grayed out item you have to show expired packages. This just means the package ran already and won't run again. This is not referring to the actual agent's status. Do you have a software update tab? If so you are fine. If you check the about agent icon (white question mark thing) and check the agent details, that will confirm it's there as well.

By packages are you referring to software delivery?

And by reading your earlier notes, I suspect you are. It's a slightly well known secret (?) that the software delivery and task sync agents aren't required to deliver software packages. It is only required that the software delivery solution be installed. The two agents are only needed if you are using the software portal and sequential software delivery tasks.

I would check your Altiris logs on the server and client to see what the problem is. It could be something as simple as licensing.
