Software Delivery Wizard - Advanced

Dieselboi's picture

All,

When I do a Software Delivery Wizard - Advanced for a resource, I am getting extreme slowness between the first screen (picking of the application) and the second screen (settings.) This can take almost 1 minute.

We have investigated and don't believe it is IIS, but most likely SQL. Anyone else experience this and can offer up a thought?

Brett,

There was one mention of this in the past:https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=35826&p=1, and the kb solved the problem. It seems like a very specific issue though, and may not apply to you.

You could take a look at your SQL table size https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=30567&p=1, and maybe do some truncating (BE CAREFUL what you delete). Also, is there any issues in the logs while this delay occurs?

HTH,

We're not getting that xml error, so I don't think that is the issue. Nothing is showing in the logs when the delay occurs. Here's more info:

When the Software Delivery Wizard comes up, we get the applications available. We pick one and click Next. This is where we see the slowness of 1 minute to get to the next page. Nothing in the Event Log. What is strange though is that once at the second page where you pick resource, you can click back to the application choice and then next to the collection selection without slowness. As if something is being rendered in the background and once rendered, it functions.

Also, while troubleshooting this issue, I keep generating packages of the name of pacdumfrpkgsvrcntrl.

Not sure why and not sure how to fix it.

Definitely a purging function or rather a lack thereof. I found this article, which only really helps, in showing where the pacdumfrpkgsvrcntrl is coming from: https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=28950&p=1

It appears there is no built in way to purge that. Perhaps taking a look at the table sizes might give you an idea.
