I posted about this a while back, but we do not collect software inventory at our institution due to political reasons. It was my understanding that enabling the software discovery policy under Settings>Software>Software Discovery would not collect inventory. However, as I look through our console I see inventory for add/remove programs for all of the machines. This is running SMP/CMS 7.1 sp1.
Am I misunderstanding how the software discovery process works? I was under the impression it would scan and add the results to the known software list but not actually collect inventory on what was installed where.
