  • 1.  Software Local to the NS vs Software Library

Can anyone explain the benefits to using a local drive on the NS or a Software Library for our software packages. I have added SAN space to the server so I can just point to that drive, or I can share it out and we can access is via the library UNC path. I guess I am not sure what extra benefits the library provides if the packages are local to the NS? What does the library do that a share wouldn't?

    Thank you

    Hi Brandon,

I think this link will give you all the information,

I was reading that link earlier and it cleared it up a bit. The other thing our consultant explained is the hashing is used for ITIL shops. I think we will just use the local drive or possibly share it out and do it as a UNC. I don't see a benefit to using the Software Library at this time unless I have overlooked something. Thank you.
