Software update plug-in install 7.1

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi

software update plug-in is not installed on the targeted agent. I tried by reinstallin the agent again still the agent not shows the SW update plg-in package,

Help needed on this

Patch Management software update policies that were created prior to installing the patch management 7.0 Sp 2 service pack. and you can just reach technical service of Symantec

Could you please provide more details, screen shots for example?

Have you checked agent log files for errors?

Does the installation package for SWU Plug-in being downloaded by the agent?

i have attached the log file of the same .

installation package for SWU plug-in not downloaded by the agent instead the SW mgmt solution package and symantec inventory package is what i seen downloaded.

Is it (package) listed in "Software Delivery" tab on the agent side?

If yes, can you show a screen shot of the "Download History" and "Run History" tabs for the SWU Plug-in installation package?

Your log file was checked and found that install of Patch management Plug-In was completed with error code 1638.

Error code 1638 - Another version of product was installed. Please use Microsoft MSI CleanUp Util (msicuu2) to remove previous version of Patch Management Plug-In. When old Patch Plug-In will removed try to install Patch Plug-In again.

that the Software Update Plug-in install or upgrade policy is enabled and targeted at the PC.

i have attached the screenshot of the same but still the software update tab is not there in agent side

And it is downloaded successfully but it is showin failed in run history wid exit code 1638

Hi, 

used the MS utility and now the agent have the SW tab.

But the agent is not receiving software updates,patches.

what could be went wrong?

Hi,

Either software management solution plug-in is not installed on it if installed, the inventory is yet to be updated on the server.

Inventory and SW mgmt solution plug-in all are there and also the inventory has updated.

and the OS is Win2k3 SP1 which has agent installed.

is there is any SP issue..?

2003 SP1 (not R2) is not officially supported in 7.1, check http://www.symantec.com/content/en/us/enterprise/fact_sheets/b-it_management_suite_7_1_3-1_DS_21179313.en-us.pdf

I would recommend:

1. Upgrade to SP2

2. After that check compliance information in Compliance by Bulletin report

I encountered a similar issue a few days ago. The last patch for w2k3 sp1 cane out in 2009!

Hi, robert

As per your recommendation i already done with that and in compliance report (windows compl. by computer) it shows that applicable updates.

but still that agent had not received any updates. Also i tried reinstalling the agent on it.

Just to confirm, have you staged and created policies for those updates? If yes, then check that agent is shown in the policies target.
