  • 1.  Some clients not showing green dot in Manager console

    Hi Group:

    I have found out that I have some SEP clients not showing  green in the SEP Manager console.

    I have tried two of them and I found out that I cannot even open SEP client icon.

    Can u pls advise how can I troubleshoot this..

    What do you mean, when you say you cannot open SEP Client Icon?  From the Taskbar?

    Have you tried launching directly from the [INSTALL DIRECTORY]\SYMCORPUI.EXE  ?

    Once you get into the console, on the local client, you may receive additional information on the problem.  Corrupted install, communication errors, etc.

    Have you rebuilt the server?  

    Did you check the Sylink.xml file to make sure the clients are using the proper one to connect to the server?

    I logged in the client  thru RDP and I have tried to locate the SEP client icon in the right hand side..nothing..

    I went in the Program files then locate SEP icon and click ; it doesnt show anything..

    What do you mean by this?? you mean  try to  reinstall??
    Have you tried launching directly from the [INSTALL DIRECTORY]\SYMCORPUI.EXE ?


    Appreciate your help..

    Has this client ever had an agent installed? If so, did you recently upgrade the client? Is SMC.exe or Rtvscan in the running process list?

    Is SMC.exe or Rtvscan in the running process list? Yes; Like smcgui  is running/


    Also;

    I found out that  i have about 30 clients having same behaviour out of 200.And these 30 clients have all last checkin time at  today 6:04am recorded {late of about 10 hours}

    Cannot think of any..

    If the client you are connecting to does not have an icon in the Taskbar (bottom right near time) and you are sure the client is installed on the machine...

    Open MY COMPUTER and if it's a default installation:

    c:\program files\symantec...\SYMCORPUI.EXE 

    The SymCorpUI.EXE file is the file that is called when you try to launch from the TaskBar (bottom right).

    If the file is on the system and the Client is installed, it should launch from there.

    If it does not launch than you may need to reinstall.

    Reinstall didnt work.. got stuck after running the setup.exe.

    I have tried  clean removal and still stuck!

    I have to log a case to Symantec..

    But if someone has a clue pls advise.
