  • 1.  Some pcs are not updating the SEP versions

    Posted Feb 09, 2012 12:27 PM

I've installed the SEP on clients & just a few pc's are not updating the versions.  The initial install starts with 11.6 then later gets updated to 11.7.  SOME pc's just doesnt get updated & its frustrating!   I would send update contents to them, reboot, & i've even ran a repair & they just dont update.  There is nothing in the eventvwr.... all are Windows XP's sp2 & 3.   The virus contents are being updated no problem.  Do i have to resort to uninstall & reinstall?

    THANKS!

    • How many machine not upgrading
    • How are the packages pushed using Push deployement or any other method
    • Or are the packages added in Sepm to get upgraded ?

Would suggest to create and install package on 1 machine as test locally no need to reinstall .

Run the upgrade locally on 1 fault machine and check if it goes sucess .

Upgrading via SEPM migration & also connecting to the setup.exe & running manually

Disable simple file sharing on these machine and then deploy the package

Make sure port 143 is open as it uses for deployement purposes

    Or

Install Setup exe locally if it is upgrading

Get cleanwipe from Support run it on problem machines Install Sep / Push the package should work .

Do not run clean wipe on servers .

We have a similar issue in our environment. There were 2 issues, the first was the registry value for language was blank, when we changed it to English, it worked. But we still have this issue on multiple other machines, laptops as well as desktops. at times it takes as long as 1 month to upgrade (without any troubleshooting) and other times it just stays as it is. Tech support is reviewing the logs for a month now and no solution........

Firewall is off.  i've tried the repair but it didnt work.  maybe i need to wait a day or so to see if it kicks in?

ACTUALLY ultimately i ended up ininstalling & reinstalling.   I had hoped not to go to that extreme hence posting this request.

I still dont understand how the few do not get updated as the rest did naturally.??  How can i get it to install from version 11.7 from the beginning instead of waiting and hoping 11.6 will update on its own?

Hi. Here is the reg entry.

    [HKLM/SOFTWARE/SYMANTEC/Symantec Endpoint Protection/SMC] Language=English

Then restart SMC and check back later to see if the client upgraded?

Odd that the language did not populate.  I have added English & rebooted (could not restart smc by itself) and will verify but as of 30 min ago, it has not changed.

    thanks
