SPAM Quarantine Report URL changes by itself!

After over 2 years of getting good value out of the Gateway appliance we are now starting to get a number of annoying problems after updating to Version 8. The latest has been that on two occassions the URL used in the SPAM digest message to users has spontaneously changed. This not only affects the visible URL at ther top of the message, but also the Release and View links. They no longer work! We can quickly fix this by resetting the Spam Quarantine login URL in the web console SPAM quaratine settngs, but not before the users have got useless messages.

Our correct setting points to a URL which is published on our ISA server. The substitute setting is of the form https://<CC Appliance Name>:41443/brightmail. This does not work for two reasons: the appliance cannot be directly accessed from outside the network (except by smtp connections) and even if it could it would not be an https connection (the SSL is terminated at the ISA server).

The first time that our URL setting was overwritten was after the appliance had been rebooted. But the one earlier this week just happened during normaal use.

Has anyone seen anyhing like this? Any fixes? It will be embarassing if it keeps happening.

Elliot

Hi Elliot, can you tell us

Hi Elliot,

can you tell us which build of SBG are you using now? You can use the "version" command from CLI. Also can you provide details about how you reached this build? Is this an upgrade from a previous version? If so from which one?

Thanks,

Federico

Sorry about the delay in

Sorry about the delay in getting back. had other pressing things and I did not get to check the forum.

We are using 8.0.1-7. It is an upgrade from version 7. Unfortunately i don't have the full history; we have had the system for over 2 years and there have been a number of upgrades (generally a number at the same time). I know it passed through 7.5.0-23 and 7.6.1-14.  I suspect it in fact started off as either version 5 or 6. I am unsure if it was rebuilt before going to version 7.

Hi, I remember something

Hi,

I remember something similar in the past but I can confirm is not happening in SBG 8, so I'm wondering if this would be something carried with the upgrade. Any chance this appliance can be OS restored?

Not really. I would think

Not really. I would think this would be difficult to get through our Change control process as it would involve a signicant interuption is service! It is more of a nuisance than a major issue at present. i now check this everyday when I look at my own spam quarantine message so i can fix it if it happens again!

Hi,

if OS restore is not an option then I'd suggest you open a case with Technical Support.

Thanks,
