SPC with 2 NICs

Hello there,

One of my customers have Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 Small Business Edition (SEP 12 SBE) installed. The Symantec Protection Center (SPC) server has two (2) network cards. They have two gateway addresses; one connects to the LAN (and clients) through 10.93.4.65 gateway address, and another that connects to the Internet through 10.93.4.1 gateway address.

I need to make the configurations so that SPC can utilize both NICs and connect to both clients and the Internet simultaneously.

Thanks in advance...

There are no settings in the SPC for configuring two NIC's. I am not finding any KB's stating this will or will not work. I believe you can still manage the clients through the first NIC, while the SPC connects to the Internet through the other NIC. Have the customer deloy the clients, and test.

No good!

Thank you, Cycletech. I have already tried, but the SPC could only connect to and "see" the clients. It could not access the Internet and get updates.

Using the firewall with a bridged connection

Hello,

Using the firewall with a bridged connection
--------------------------------------------
A client computer that uses two network cards and that connects to the same network switch might not be able to communicate if the network uses a bridged connection. When traffic passes through the firewall, the firewall can cause a packet storm so that the network cannot broadcast traffic. If a client computer uses two NIC cards, uses a bridged connection, and cannot communicate, you might need to unbridge the connection.

Also, check the Symantec Forum's Link with Similar issue: (hope something may be helpful to you)

Didn't work!

Thank you for the tips, Mithun. The problem is regarding the SPC and not a client. I have read through the discussions you provided, but could not find anything useful. Thanks again!

Only if it was SEP 11.

Hello,

Hope this would have been SEP 11.

How to Configure a Symantec Endpoint Protection Management server with Multiple NICs

However, in this case SPC does not use IIS and it's not SEP 11.
