    Hi All,

While I have been trialing this software I keep on getting this Severity Notification.

    Severity:

    State:

Host: GLOBAL NEWS PRODUCT SERVER RESOURCE
    First occurred: 25/10/2011 6:47:06 PM
    Last occurred: 31/10/2011 9:09:23 AM
    Count: 2689
Description: Failed to request data feed IncidentEvents due to network error.
Details: An communication error occurred while requesting data feed IncidentEvents from product server Global News Product Server Resource.
    Category: Application Data

It keeps occuring and we cant figure out why. We are using a proxy and have checked logs and the server isnt trying to get out that is being denied access. I only have 2 products intergrated at the moment and that is SEP and SMSMSE (currently not working fully yet).

Any ideas before I open case?

    Greetings Mark

The Global News Product Server communicates over port 7891. I know you have examined your proxy logs, but I have only seen this error occur when the server is unable to reach the Symantec Global News Feed Servers.

Please examine your firewall rules and allow traffic over port 7891 to reach the Symantec Protection Center 2.0 appliance.

    Regards

    Greetings Mark,

While you have closed your web case, I wanted to get some possible closure on this issue on the forums.

We have been investigating the usage of proxy for internal processes. There are some processes in SPC that occur at the OS level, and those operations are not utilizing the Proxy Settings entered into the SPC Web Console. We are researching workarounds for this at this time.

Anyone with issues related to their proxy server should submit a support ticket.

    Regards

We have found that there are some OS related processes that require additional configuration for the SPC 2 Appliance to function in a Proxy Environment.

If you or a customer utilize a proxy server and wish to deploy and SPC 2.X proxy, please contact Support after you have installed the SPC Appliance and they will be glad to further assist you with command line level Proxy configuration. We are working on providing additional tools to streamline this process, as well as making changes to the SPC 2.X product itself to further control these OS related functions with the settings we provide inside the SPC 2 Web Console.

    Regards.
