SQL 2005 Database Backup Failures

Created: 17 Jun 2010 • Updated: 18 Jul 2010 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have recently moved a number of Databases from a SQL 2000 server to a 2005. The backup of these databases (Checking the Microsoft SQl server checkbox in the selection section) Keeps failing. It worked fine on the 2000 server backing up using the same selections. The error we get is: Final error: 0xe0008492 - Database Query Failure. We are using BE 11d SP 5.

The rest of the server backs up correctly despite BE incicating the Job has failed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Is this a full backup or incremental ? if incremental try running a full backup and see if that works

let me know the excat error you have and also refer the following document http://support.veritas.com/docs/286848

Also Give the backup account "sysadmin" and "server admin" permissions in SQL and add it to the local administrators group on the SQL server

That appears to have worked! Thank you! Just got to test on one other backup but initial testing looks good.
