    For one group only?

    The recommended and preferred way is to go thru the SEPM so that you don't risk DB corruption.

    its better to do from SEPM console, as you need to make sure the clients are moved to other group.

    Deleting group from SEPM does not get delted from SQL DB

    it will not be deleted immediately .,It will be done when next DB cleanup occurs.

    Yes, in the next database cleanup it should go away if it's been deleted from SQL DB.

    You can do a manual cleanup to get it cleaned from either SEPM console or from the DB side.
