SQL DBs backup with "full check - including indexes" option fails

Created: 21 Jan 2014 | 5 comments

Hi All,

Trying to backup about 16 databases out of which for 6 databases (Master database is one of them) getting the error message "The directory or file not found or could not be accessed" , The MASTER database is a corrupt file.

It happens only when we select the Full check - including index only option is selected. However if we choose physical only check option for the consistency check, job works fine.

Any suggestions or advise at the earliest as possible is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

To isolate the problem, backup just the Master database and do a consistency check including indexes.  If it again fails, then you probably need to either try to repair your Master databae or restore your Master database from a good backup.

Okay, will perform the Database Consistency check on the Master database. I have tried this for other SQL databases that fails with the same error message, the DBCC check passes..The command I used was "DBCC CHECKDB". Hope this will also pass for the Master database.

Thanks.

"DBCC CHECKDB" completes without an issue on the DBs.

Try re-creating your job.

Can you send a screenshot of the command you ran on the SQL command line and the results when done against master database? Also, attach job log from Backup Exec for the failure.
