Hi,
We are using SQL Server as database for symantec endpoint manager. we installed sql server on the same symantec server..whether is it possible to move the sql db in another sql server and uninstalling the existing sql in the symantec server or whether SEP will support sql express editions?
Ima not moving whole SEPM..iam moving only SQL DB, so provide me any KB article for moving SQL DB
Install SQL native client tools on the local machine.
Move the SQL , Run the management sever configuration wizard
express is not supported
Rafeeq,
Thanks..this is what iam expecting..then one more doubt is SEP will suppoert any SQL server express editions?
sql express is not supported.
check the system requirement guide to know the compatibility with SQL.
Pete,
Thanks..i will now move my SQL DB to my new SQL Server. is any downtime required for this activity?
SQL Express is not supported. The downtime will be minimal. You can get an approval for 4 hours
Detach- Attach- Run the config wizard.
Always have the back up / disaster recovery to be on safer side.
yes, while running management server configuration wizard to point to the new SQL then the clients will not be able to reach SEPM ( if this the only SEPM).
