    Hi,

We are using SQL Server as database for symantec endpoint manager. we installed sql server on the same symantec server..whether is it possible to move the sql db in another sql server and uninstalling the existing sql in the symantec server or whether SEP will support sql express editions?

Install SQL native client tools on the local machine.

Move the SQL , Run the management sever configuration wizard

    express is not supported

Moving the SEPM database to a new SQL server or instance using SQL backup/restore.

SQL Express is not supported. The downtime will be minimal. You can get an approval for 4 hours

Detach- Attach- Run the config wizard.

Always have the back up / disaster recovery to be on safer side.

yes, while running management server configuration wizard to point to the new SQL then the clients will not be able to reach SEPM ( if this the only SEPM).
