SSIM 4.7 multi-path
Updated: 22 Jul 2010 | 3 comments
Hi,
I've been searching for new information about multi-pathing in SSIM 4.7 version documents.
I heard that version 4.7 probably would be separated from the operating system, but I'm seeing the same installation procedure as 4.6 version.
Is it possible then to use multipath? and another operating system?
Thank you.
Belén.

SSIM 4.7 is not seperated
SSIM 4.7 is not seperated form the OS.
Yes, it is possible to use multipath.
You will have to install either EMCPowepath which comes with the DVD or the device-mapper-multipath (device-mapper-multipath-0.4.5-27.RHEL4.i386.rpm) package.
To use all features of the EMC package you will need a licnese. You will need to buy it from EMC.
At the moment you also won't be able to use the Web-UI as it doesn't handle the devices which get created.
You will have to setup everything manually via the commandline. I would recommend that you first try this on an appliance which is not used in production.
