SSIM install and DB2 database, Tomcat server problem
Dear List Members,
I am a newcomer at SSIM 4.6 I faced a problem never seen before. I installed the appliance at a SUN SunFire X4150 machine. The install procedure was fine and smoothly. But when I opened the SSIM client on the Console Manager the DashBoard shows me a crashed picture. First of all I am facing with the Error message. (enclosed doc 1st picture) Right after the DashBoard show me also a flawed status. (pic 2)
Nevertheless I am able to use the SSIM client. even more the parts came from perhaps the LDAP are fine. I am able to create new roles, users, machines, . . . I think the root of the prolem is that the Tomcat server is not able to find the DB2 database server. If I query the web based Diagnostic Tools/ Event Service the result is Tomcat server error. But at the Diagnostic Tools/ SSIM Services the database is up. If I dig for the root of the problem, the Tomcat error message says
at the /opt/Symantec/simserver/etc/event-service-startup.xml we are not able to initialize connection info to the database. org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'eventService' defined in file [/opt/Symantec/simserver/etc/event-service-startup.xml]: Cannot resolve reference to bean 'processors' while setting constructor argument with index 0; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'processors': Cannot resolve reference to bean 'datamunger' while setting bean property 'sourceList' with key [2]; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'datamunger' defined in file [/opt/Symantec/simserver/etc/event-service-startup.xml]: Cannot resolve reference to bean 'connInfo' while setting constructor argument with index 1; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'connInfo' defined in file [/opt/Symantec/simserver/etc/event-service-startup.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is com.symantec.sim.db.DataStoreException: Could not find a local database org.springframework.beans.factory.support.BeanDefinitionValueResolver.resolveReference(BeanDefinitionValueResolver.java:269) org.springframework.beans.factory.support.BeanDefinitionV The same goes for https://192.168.0.16/sesa/servlet/eventlogger query. The SSIM agent log shows the same problem. I think the database run and is available, the install is complete, but the Tomcat doesn't know the right port and path to the database. I also don't know the right place of the configuration file, the test methods and the appropriate restart procedure for the interested services. Could you please help me to overcome the problem, set the right database path and restart the services? Otherwise if I re-install the entire structure and faced the problem again I won't know again what was the problem exactly. Kind regards, Laszlo

In addition, when I try to System > Loactions or System > Operating Systems, I get the error box "Error occurred while communicating with the data store." Any help on this?
Thanks!

HI all Listmembers,
I got the appropriate information from a principal SIM expert. My problem is solved exactly. The problem solution is very easy: it is necessary to install maintenance packs and service packs. The number of the necessary patches depends on the product version you have. Please look after available patches and do not manipulate the product with own specific workarounds.
Laci.
