SSIM Linux Version / Backup Option

This issue has been solved. See solution.
Which version/kernal of linux is the SSIM running on exactly? I'm looking at whether I can use a 3rd party tool such as Commvault (as that is our current backup system), that has a linux agent, and configure that to work and backup the SSIM versus the option of FTP/SCP to offload the files from the box.

Depends on the version of SSIM. SSIM 4.6.1 shows 2.6.9-67.0.7.ELhugememsym #1 SMP when I type uname -a . It's Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 4
Also I found that "cat /etc/redhat-release" will give you the overall RH version as well.
