SSIM v4.6 - Backup / resliency / DR considerations

Created: 15 Dec 2008 • Updated: 23 May 2010 | 3 comments

Is anyone aware of options for SSIM backup / restore procedures across a two appliance configuration and/or any information or white papers on the background DB2 configuration for SSIM?

I can see an article suggesting the use of event forwarding which I assume gives to discreet but identical databases but is anyone aware of any other methods?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You're basically limited to a hot stand by approach.
You provide two SSIM appliances; 1 primary and 1 standby.
Then configure your agent to to "fail over" to the standby in the event the agent can not communicate with the primary SSIM appliance.

The issue here is you end up with two database and two event archives if a failover does occur.
However the "Use Persistent Queues" option is supposed keep a copy of all events sent to the standby SSIM so it can forward those events to the primary once it returns on an online state.
I say "supposed" because I haven't actually tested it.

Hello,

Is there any option to sync the incidents?

No you cannot sync the Incidents between databases.
